A glimpse of Lima

Airport

After one and a half days of flying, I’ve decided airplanes are basically time machines powered by snacks. Our journey took us from Cairns to Fiji to LAX and finally to Lima. The air hosts were wonderfully pleasant, always smiling and making the long trip feel easy. LAX was surprisingly smooth—just 45 minutes through customs and 5 through security, which felt like a small miracle! Even though the journey was long, the flight itself was comfortable and enjoyable. Stepping out in Lima, a little tired but very happy, I could only think one thing: awesome.

Lima Home – Barranco – Miraflores

We rolled in dusty, curious, and probably hungrier than we’d admit, only to be greeted by Anthony—legend, host, and all-round good human—and his incredible family. Within minutes, we felt like part of their extended family.

The meal was something special: BBQ pork, fresh pan (bread), full, tangy pickled onions, spices that felt straight out of a Silk Road journey, and a corn-based patty filled with olives, chicken, and pork. The kind of food that makes you question every takeaway you’ve ever loved.

Afterwards, we wandered the streets of Barranco and  Miraflores, soaking it all in between stories and smiles. It wasn’t just a stop—it was one of those rare travel moments that sticks.
