A clear Ride
Sunday arrived, and a perfect day it was. The sun was shining, the breeze was gentle, and the roads stretched out ahead like an invitation to adventure. We needed to stretch the legs of our Hondas. A trip to Port Douglas sounded like the perfect plan. The route was a familiar one, but the thrill of the open road never faded. We didn’t eat beforehand, just to ensure that we were starving by the time we arrived, ready to indulge in a delicious meal.
The ride was smooth, the engine purring as we cruised along, with the stunning scenery of the coast unfolding before us. The smell of the sea filled the air, and the sound of the tires on the road was a comforting hum. With each twist and turn, the excitement built, knowing that a good meal and great company awaited us at the end of the journey.
Home
As the temperature steadily rose, we decided to take option B for the journey home, veering inland. The heat of the coast was becoming overwhelming, so we set our sights on the cooler, air-conditioned refuge of the Tablelands. The road wound upwards, cutting through dense forest and offering glimpses of the surrounding hills as we ascended the range. The steady climb brought a refreshing breeze that grew cooler with every turn, a welcome relief after the hot, humid air we’d left behind. With each twist in the road, the landscape changed—lush, tropical vegetation gradually giving way to the more temperate greenery of the higher altitudes. As we approached the top of the range, the heat from the coast seemed like a distant memory, replaced by the crisp, cool air of the Tablelands. It felt like stepping into another world, one where the humidity couldn’t reach, and the ride was a smooth, comfortable journey home.
